This semester has completely turned my brain to mush. Never again am I taking three art history classes in one semester. I'm trying to dedicate the next couple of days to finishing my research paper/presentation for my Renaissance art class. The paper is on Fra' Fillip Lippi and Jean Fouquet's portrayal of the Virgin Mary. Which both were modeled either after their own lover, or the mistress of someone very close to them. The project is trying to make some correlation between the artists being influenced by women who either they consider beautiful, or someone close to them considering to be the most beautiful woman. Or if it's just a step in the evolution of the way the Virgin Mary was portrayed in the Renaissance. Let's face it she sure looked a lot better in the Renaissance than in any other time period before hand.

Plus the paintings are pretty

This isn't my point of interest in terms of art history. But since my college's art history program is in shambles right now, I'll take whatever classes they offer until I can graduate and apply for grad school.

Fall movie preview

Fall into early Winter is the absolute best time to be a film fan. This is the time of year when all the the Oscar contender films start being released. So far two films have caught my attention.

Black Swan

The newest film by director Darren Aronofsky (Requiem For A Dream and The Wrestler). The film features some of my favorite actors, Vincent Cassel and Natalie Portman. I'm horrible at describing films, so I'm going to let wikipedia do the talking
"he film stars Natalie Portman and Mila Kunis as ballet dancers in a New York City production of Swan Lake. The production requires a ballerina to play both the innocent White Swan and the sensual Black Swan. Nina (Portman) fits for the White Swan and Lily (Kunis) fits for the Black Swan. When the two compete for the parts, Nina finds a dark side of herself."

Never Let Me Go

Directed by Mark Romanek(who is a well known music video director, directing the Johnny Cash video for "Hurt" and the Nine Inch Nails video "Closer"). Just watching the trailer gives me the feeling that this film is going to DESTROY me. But in a good, I don't usually cry during films. But when a film can cause such an emotional reaction out of me, it sticks. The last film that effected me in such an emotional way was "Grave Of The Fireflies."

What films are you excited to see this coming Fall/Early Winter?

outfit prep for comic con

Since NYCC is just over 2 months away, I have to start planning my outfits for the con. For one day I want to wear something over the top like the outfit above. The other two days are probably going to consist of normal clothes and cosplay.

I'm taking the opportunity to dress as insane as I can. Plus later on that month I'm going to wear the same dress but to a formal event. Which should be a good lolita vs lolita at a formal event entry.

Metamophose lucky pack contents

My lucky pack from Metamorphose came in the mail this morning :D! I ordered one of the dark colored lucky packs, since I can live with getting any of those colors. Mean while if I got pink or white from the light colored ones I would've been upset and sold all of it. I'm very pleased to see that I got a bordeaux colored pack. Now the contents:
